What can I expect in the first session when I see a therapist?

Be prepared to have an open and honest discussion about the issue(s) that led you to seek counseling. Do not be afraid to ask questions about the therapy process so that you can better understand how it works. Actively participate in your session to make it as successful as possible. Therapy is a collaborative exercise and your results will depend on how much effort you are willing to put forth.

If I attend therapy sessions, does that mean something is wrong with me?

No. Patients who use our therapy sessions with Dr. Tran are interested in their persional growth and the ability to consistently adjust to the ever changing world around them. Everyone faces situations daily that may cause pressure and or concern. These situations could also make someone feel anxious, angry, lonely or depressed. Here at Great Talk Therapy, we will help you to explore positive coping strategies and ways to deal with both your own challenges as well as any that may arise from your surroundings.

Isn't it better for me to solve my own problems?

A therapist does not solve your problems for you. Rather, they help you to clarify any issues you might have so that you are better equipped with more problem solving methods. Dr. Tran is here to provide guidance, support and her professional expertise. The goal of therapy is to ensure that you are more self-sufficient and not more dependent.

Will anyone be told that I am attending therapy?

No. We have a strict confidentiality policy here at Great Talk Therapy and will not release any information regarding contact with you without your permission. The only exception is if you are displaying signs that you are a threat to harm yourself and or others. It is your right to choose whether to discuss your therapy sessions with your family and friends

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we do accept insurance! Our practice accepts payment from a wide variety of insurance providers. Please contact our office today with any questions specific to insurance so that we can get you an accurate answer.

What are some advantages of video therapy?

There are many advantages when choosing online therapy. It is a great option for those who live in remote areas as they may not have access to mental health services in their geographic area. Video therapy provides a level of convenience and affordability that traditional sessions cannot. E-therapy is an excellent answer for those seeking sessions who have physical limitations.
